Overview

Blakes is seeking a Corporate Securities Associate (3-6 years) to join its thriving Calgary Capital Markets, Public M&A and Securities team. We would like to speak to candidates who have relevant experience at a large firm or a smaller corporate or securities-focused firm.
 
The Blakes Securities group provides an exceptional opportunity for its associates to develop strong legal and client-service skills through work on local, national and international corporate finance transactions, public mergers and acquisitions, and other securities law and related matters.

The successful candidate will assist clients in a wide variety of capital markets business and M&A transactions as well as generally navigating securities law and stock exchange obligations. This will include:

  • Assist issuers, underwriters, and selling shareholders in domestic and cross-border public offerings and private placements of debt, equity, hybrid and structured finance products.
  • Assist with corporate governance requirements, stock exchange compliance, continuous disclosure obligations (including in respect of the emerging ESG disclosure regimes), and general regulatory compliance matters.
  • Assist with public M&A transactions, including take-over bids, plans of arrangement, and corporate reorganizations.
